The mission of El Centro Hispanoamericano is to assist immigrants from Latin America and elsewhere, particularly those who do not have access to publicly funded services, by providing immigration and related legal services, social services, education, advocacy, cultural programs; and further to educate both the immigrant community and the United States community regarding immigration issues to insure dignity, respect, and justice for all. 

Although El Centro focuses its cultural and educational program on Hispanic communities and its staff has language facility in Spanish, El Centro provides legal services and social services without regard to race, religion, or national origin.  El Centro provides free or subsidized low-cost legal services for immigrants who might otherwise lack access to such services.

El Centro is housed in the lower level of the United Presbyterian Church in Plainfield.

 Wish List:

þ  Volunteers to teach English as a Second Language

þ  Volunteers to conduct citizenship classes to prepare adults for the naturalization process (training provided)

þ  Volunteers familiar with research, grant writing, or non-profit administration skills

þ  Clothes:  winter coats and clothing for infants and toddlers.

þ  Donations of unwrapped toys for our Annual Christmas Toy Drive
