Report to The Presbytery of
Elizabeth
Date: September 27, 2005
The Trustees approved, for presentation to the
Presbytery for a First Reading at its September 27, 2005 Stated Meeting,
revised and updated By-laws for the Elizabethport Presbyterian Center, with the
following recommended changes:
i.
Article
II, the opening sentence revised to read in pertinent part “The purpose of the
Center is to be a Presbyterian witness to the caring concern of Jesus Christ. .
. .”
ii.
Article
III, the final sentence of the first paragraph revised by eliminating the words
“the Trustees” so that it reads as
follows: “Membership shall be effective
upon election by the Presbytery of Elizabeth.”
iii.
Article
III, second paragraph shall be revised to read in pertinent part: “. . . . live or work in the Cities of
Elizabeth, Plainfield, or nearby urban communities.”
iv.
Article
XII, the first paragraph shall be revised to read in pertinent part “. . . .
shall become effective after adoption by the Board of the Center and approval
by the Presbytery of Elizabeth.” A
conforming change shall also be made to the “Note” to Article XII.
